"Tapping The Wire; HBO Police Drama Tops Television Week's Semiannual Critics Poll List". Television Week. Killers are portrayed in exceptionally rounded ways in The Wire. When the Stansfield Crew become prominent in Series 4 and 5 the body count goes way up. The callous brutality of Marlow is delivered by his enforcers Chris and Snoop. Snoop is one of the most engaging and witty characters, her B-More slang, strong accent, and rapid fire banter make Snoop arguably the funniest mass murderer in television history with the scene in the hardware store being particularly funny. Actress Felicia Pearson's own life story plays into her character so very well. Snoop's line "How my hair look Mike?" is perhaps the most moving line throughout the entire series, offering a glimpse into the person Snoop might well really be underneath the cold blood killer exterior. Several prominent real-life Baltimore figures, including former Maryland Governor Robert L. Ehrlich Jr.; Rev. Frank M. Reid III; radio personality Marc Steiner; former police chief and radio personality Ed Norris; Baltimore Sun reporter and editor David Ettlin; Howard County Executive Ken Ulman; and former mayor Kurt Schmoke have appeared in minor roles despite not being professional actors. [15] [16]Stringer's tale is an excellent character arc. He is initially the heavy who dispassionately demotes D'Angelo and cruises around looking exceedingly menacing. It turns out though that he has a vision that the others do not and he tries to make things better including by creating legitimate front companies. Stringer is a smart man but he is screwed over when he leaves his comfort zone by the unscrupulous senator Clay Davis who steals Stringer's money. Stringer is incredibly ruthless and his violent life leads him to make very violent decisions but leads to what in retrospect was perhaps an inevitable end. Marlo Stanfield lures his enemy Omar Little out of retirement by having Omar's mentor Butchie murdered. Proposition Joe teaches Stanfield how to launder money and evade investigation. Once Joe is no longer useful to him, Stanfield has Joe killed with the help of Joe's nephew Cheese Wagstaff and usurps his position with the Greeks and the New Day Co-Op. Michael Lee continues working as a Stanfield enforcer, providing a home for his friend Dukie and younger brother Bug. Cafe Oto's label releasing Tony Marsh's final recorded performance, plus Thurston Moore and Mats Gustafsson After a dispute over stolen goods turns violent, Sobotka's wayward son Ziggy is charged with the murder of one of the Greek's underlings. Sobotka himself is arrested for smuggling; he agrees to work with the detail to help his son, finally seeing his actions as a mistake. The Greek learns about this through his mole inside the FBI and has Sobotka killed. The investigation ends with the fourteen homicides solved but the perpetrator already dead. Several drug dealers and mid-level smuggling figures tied to the Greek are arrested, but he and his second-in-command escape uncharged and unidentified. The Major is pleased that Sobotka was arrested; the case is seen as a success by the commanding officers, but is viewed as a failure by the detail.

Mark Fisher's Ghosts Of My Life: Writings On Depression, Hauntology And Lost Futures published in Japan For many weeks, Colvin's experiment works and crime is reduced in his district. Colvin' superiors, the media and city politicians eventually find out about the arrangement and the "Hamsterdam" experiment ends. The most popular character of the show appears to be Stringer Bell. He is the real brains behind the Barksdale operation. His efforts at self-improvement are an example of the American Dream. Bell might be a murderous drug kingpin but he takes economics classes to try to increase the value of his business. That Stringer turns up at a class called Introduction to Macroeconomics and yet receives Microeconomics 101 (supply and demand) is just one of the many errors strewn through the 5 seasons but as so much goes right the mistakes can be ignored. a b c d e f g Kois, Dan (2004).
