When I heard the news from Promobricks of the possible revival of The Lord Of The Rings LEGO Theme, I was like: “One does not simply revive LEGO LOTR” and I thrilled if this turns out to be true. I also really like how its mouth is constructed – the technique used to give it a sense of depth, and the use of yellow and orange parts on the inside work remarkably well for for a proper 3D effect. Features a full-size LEGO BrickHeadz Frodo figure with a sword and ring element and a smaller model of Gollum with a fish element.

Frodo comes as a full-size LEGO BrickHeadz figure wearing a brick-built cloak and holding the ring and a sword.I do really appreciate these characters being made, but I did find Gollum to be downright dull to build. So during the past 2 weeks, I set myself the challenge to reimagine the Fellowship into BrickHeadz scale. These Lord of the Rings gifts and toys, for kids aged 10+ and adults , are inspired by the mythical locations and iconic characters of Frodo™, Gandalf the Grey™ and Aragorn™.

The characters are featured prominently, and the colours are exactly what you’d think when Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy comes to mind. I think Aragorn and Arwen and Gandalf and the Balrog look great, but they got Frodo’s hair completely wrong and it looks terrible! But because I use certain pieces in specific colors that have not been released yet and the heavy use of printed pieces lead me to make this decision. With that said, these do make interesting sets that you and a friend or family member can build together. There are many characters who could have joined Frodo, but he’s joined by the iconic character of Gollum.Brickheadz are a particularly niche LEGO theme, with some really ardent collectors, and those that refuse to bother given that they’re somewhat odd Funko pop-clones. But for many, it’s the film series from New Line Cinema which has provided the route into this amazing world.That said, Gollum does work when placed alongside the other Lord of the Rings Brickheadz, especially Frodo, you can tell that it’s Gollum. It’s really hilarious how bad Gollum looks, as he really nails the naked tan-baby Brickheadz look, down to his the filthy brown loincloth covering Gollum’s precious. The Frodo Brickheadz is masterfully designed, using colours to effectively convey and identify Frodo.

These are fantastic, now I’m not a fan of Brickheadz, don’t own a single one, BUT you’ve done an amazing job on them. The Gollum figure is smaller to reflect the relative sizes of the two characters, and he is holding a fish – his favorite food.Personally, I’m an avid collector of BrickHeadz, and the Lord of the Rings characters are my first opportunity to get BrickHeadz characters that are quasi-medieval (one of my favorite themes).
